As one of China`s most important home-based diplomatic activities in 2018, the 18th summit of the Council of Heads of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states will be held in Qingdao, Shandong from June 9th to 10th, 2018. The Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies of Renmin University of China (RDCY), launches think tank hotline, recommending Chinese and international experts to interpret the hot topics of the SCO summit with media friends.

The SCO is a comprehensive regional organization with great potential for development, an important venue for China’s peripheral and multilateral diplomacy, and an indispensable showpiece for China to participate in global governance continuously and build new-type international relations. The SCO Qingdao Summit, as the first summit after it enlargement, will be a milestone for the development of SCO.

RDCY has devoted many years to research in the field of global governance and has deeply participated in the Chinese home-based diplomatic activities, such as G20 and BRICS. Before the summit, RDCY and the Institute for Central Asia Studies of Lanzhou University joined hands to hold the symposium on the future development of the SCO and released the “Sailing Steady to Success: Shanghai Cooperation Organization in its 17 years” (Chinese and English) research report. The report reviews the SCO’s achievements and challenges over the past few years.  In addition, a new RDCY research report on “Belt and Road Initiative and Shanghai Cooperation Organization” will be released recently to provide advice and suggestions for the future development of the SCO.
